Hi. I'm Patrick Henigan.
I am a nationally certified (ACSM, FMS L2) and published personal trainer. I am one of the owners and the lead trainer at Jacksonville Fitness Academy.
I view fitness differently than most other trainers, because my path to fitness was much different.
From my late teens to mid 20s I was an opiate addict. I was scrawny, unhealthy and unhappy. Through vigorous physical and spiritual discipline I transformed my body, my mind and my life. I learned to push myself so I could live my life to its full potential.
I have the best job in the world
I know there are tons of people who feel the way I felt. They feel lost, unhappy and do not like themselves. They could have a drug problem, a health problem, a self-control problem or be in a bad situation.
Developing discipline and a hearty work ethic in the gym can make anyone’s life better.
Physical fitness can change who you are as a person. It can give you the mental strength needed to overcome any obstacle. The act of pushing your body teaches you how to be comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. That trait will make every other part of your life better.

I know how frustrating it can be when you're unhappy with your body. I've been there. I used to be a skinny guy, with a body like a string bean. It was not a good look.
You want to change but you don't know how. You've tried every diet under the sun and a million workout plans but NOTHING STICKS. You make a little progress, only for your weight to boomerang back to where you started.
To build lasting change you need hard work, patience and dedication. Most importantly you need a long term plan broken down into achievable short term goals. I will help you develop a devastating work ethic by building your plan step by step, and being there for you every step of the way. I will teach you how to exercise to hit your goals, and I will teach you how to eat without sacrificing most of your favorite foods.
There is no one size fits all fitness or nutrition program. My job is to find out what works for you. With an emphasis on your goals, your likes and your lifestyles I will build you a complete exercise and nutrition program.
I will teach you how to look good and get stronger without having to sacrifice your lifestyle.
I know that you are different and unique. Your training should reflect that. I will provide you with all the tools, experience, and knowledge you need to reach your goals.
