I'm Catherine Henigan.  I am a Jacksonville native (Douglas Anderson Alum!) who left the sunshine state to pursue my dance dreams and attend the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.  I graduated in 2011 with a BFA in Dance. 
Due to chronic back pain, that many doctors deemed untreatable, I was unable to attend most auditions.  I decided to keep moving forward, even if it was not through dance. 

I decided to get a job at a local gym (editor's note: there was a really hot and funny trainer there who I eventually married).  I decided I wanted to take a different approach to my back pain and decided to deeply study how to work out, and more importantly how to properly lift weights.  I cannot fully described how much this changed me.
 

Once I began a true weight lifting education I began to experience less pain on a daily basis.  I could finally manage my injury, and after a year of focusing on rehabilitation and pain management through iron I could FINALLY dance again!

My mind also began to reap benefits from lifting weights and exercising.  I was happier, more confident and more content with myself.

I don't care who you are; an injury will take a toll on you mentally.  It is a sad and frustrating thing to be forced to step away from the things you truly love due to hurt.  If it wasn't for the gym I don't think I would have ever been able to dance again.  

Going to the gym and working out is not always about losing weight or crafting the perfect physique.  It should be a celebration of your physical capabilities and a revelation once you realize you can improve those capabilities.  

I love this process and I want to teach you how to love it as well.  I create  an environment that's full of good vibes, energy, hard work and laughter!
